Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Approach fractures of uncertain etiology in a systematic fashion so as to avoid pitfalls in diagnosis and treatment.
  2. Identify key differences between fixation of pathologic fractures and fixation of traumatic fractures and the selective role for arthroplasty in certain contexts. 
  3.  Understand per-operative considerations in the treatment of metastatic bone disease and the role for multi-disciplinary management and coordinate care for optimal outcomes.

Statement of Need/Description/or Summary of Gap Analysis

This hour-long webinar will feature short talks on how to evaluate and treat pathologic fractures, focusing on key concepts of diagnosis, surgical techniques and adjunct treatments to optimize patient outcomes and diagnostic precision. This webinar will provide focused strategies for treating pathologic fractures for the orthopaedic surgeon taking call in any setting.

Instructional Format: Online webcast consisting of slides and audio.

Method of Participation: There are no fees for members to participate in this activity. Non-members must pay $40. To participate in the activity, physicians will be required to take the following steps:

  • Read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures.
  • Participate in the activity.
  • Complete the activity evaluation.
  • Participants who successfully complete the evaluation will receive AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
