The focus of this webinar will be case-based discussions on periarticular bone loss involving the upper and lower extremities. We will include a limited didactic/lecture component for additional details regarding specific techniques.

Webinar faculty who have all added complex procedures (hip preservation, shoulder arthroplasty, and soft tissue flaps) to their practice will share their experiences, process, and lessons learned. Each added to their practice for different reasons and with different methods. Each will give a lecture outlining the process they utilized with the moderator interjecting with questions to stimulate group discussion about key and/or controversial points. Each presenter will go over early cases they took on and then how they progressed to more complex cases.

This webinar will cover several topics associated with civilian ballistic orthopaedic trauma injuries including acute treatment of fractures cause by bullets (are they open or closed), management of soft tissue defects associated with entry and exit wounds, treatment of associated vascular and neurologic injury, management of diaphyseal fractures, and management of articular injuries. The webinar will be a combination of case based, audience response, and didactic presentations.

This will be a case-based course where we will discuss interesting cases and indications for humeral nailing. Each faculty with have cases that highlights indications, technical pearls, and how to minimize complications. Each case will highlight known complications such as shoulder pain, non-unions, NV injury, mal reductions, etc. and ways to minimize such complications. We will go over operative techniques on how to improve the ease of the procedure as well.

Not all intertrochanteric fractures heal well. What should you do if you see cut-out, or spin-off, or any other kind of fracture failure? When should you try to refixate? Is hemi appropriate? Is THA better? Do I fix the trochanter, and how? This webinar will focus predominately on cases and review the scant literature to produce some guidelines to make good clinical decisions. 90% cases, 10% lecture – focus on surgical techniques with a bit of key literature.

Fixing Fractures Without Residents: How do I do that?

This will be a case-based discussion of evaluation and management of LC-1 Pelvic Ring Injuries. We will focus on injuries that are not clearly indicated for surgery by preoperative imaging. We will discuss the role for examination under anesthesia (EUA) and newly developed techniques to simulate EUA outside of the operating room. We will also discuss methods and sequence of fixation, with special attention paid to the anterior pelvic ring, as mechanical instability and displacement in the anterior ring is greatest under stress.
